Microbiologist Cake

I was given the most interesting brief earlier this month. To bake a cake for a Microbiologist! During the beginning stages of this brief  I was imagining so many different elements. Which led me to believe a career/job description such as this was of a Lab Tech. Was I wrong! Definition of a Microbiologist?
A Microbiologist is a scientist who works in the field of microbiology. Microbiologists investigate the growth and characteristics of microscopic organisms such as bacteria, algae, or fungi.
Thank you Wikipedia for the short but precise definition!

So, on further 'investigation'... I ditched the whole idea of a lab coat and did what was right there slapping me in the face! A Petri dish!

Satin Ice red is gorgeous to work with..
Just beautiful!

Harry's "culture"

I call him Marshall the Mutant..

Thank you Elizabeth for giving me the best brief of all! To create something for you from my mind!
I hope it was delish! x

Gradient Cake

A ruffled gradient cake for Aditi and Lawrence. On January 22, celebrating their One Year Anniversary.
Not the best of photos but good to keep log of. This cake was baked a Valrhona Chocolate Cake. Filled with Chocolate butter cream and layered in Satin Ice Red and White Fondant

Congratulations Aditi and Lawrence! xox

Nautical Baby Shower

Not a resolution

I didnt anticipate blogging so late into the new year. I don't make resolutions so I can't say, one is to blog on a regular basis. But what is 'regular' blogging in the blogger World?
I guess I'm beginning my entry this way because I haven't the faintest idea how to say Happy New Year in mid February! So here it is. Happy New Year readers! There. The awkward feeling I have been holding on to the last two weeks can now pass...

I can safely say that maybe. Just maybe the lack of entries has been the result of the fine weather we have been experiencing here. So I'll say that too!

Can you relate to the lack of fluidity in my writing...

I've had the pleasure of creating some beautiful edibles this year. The lead up to this would have to be one I did earlier in December for a friend who welcomed her baby niece into the World.
For Shoby's lil niece...

Red Velvet Vegan Cupcakes, dressed with Vanilla cream cheese frost!
Thank you Meeta for the beautiful photographs x

January, my friend Bex hosted her sister a nautical inspired baby shower.
I worked off the invitation which had a squirting whale and sail boat! The sail boat is a hand made stencil. I am still quite impressed at how this turned out! Very Bruce Gray-ish!
